Federal High Court Begins Annual Vacation July 27
Abuja – The Federal High Court has announced that its 2026 annual vacation will commence on July 27 and run until September 11, with normal court activities expected to resume immediately after the vacation period.
According to a notice issued by the court’s administration, the annual break is in line with judicial practice and is intended to provide judges the opportunity to rest, attend to pending matters, and prepare for the next legal year.
The court, however, assured litigants and legal practitioners that urgent and time-sensitive cases would continue to be heard during the vacation through specially designated vacation courts.
The notice stated that judges assigned to the vacation courts would handle matters relating to fundamental rights enforcement, urgent applications, and other cases requiring immediate judicial intervention.
Legal practitioners have been advised to take note of the vacation schedule and make necessary arrangements regarding pending cases and court filings.
The Federal High Court emphasized that the vacation courts would operate throughout the period to ensure that access to justice is not disrupted, particularly in matters requiring urgent attention.
The annual judicial vacation is a routine exercise observed by courts across the country and forms part of measures aimed at maintaining efficiency within the justice system.
Court users and members of the public have been encouraged to contact relevant court registries for information regarding matters scheduled during the vacation period.
