Edo Couple Arrested as NDLEA Busts Drug Warehouse
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a couple following the discovery of a major drug warehouse in Edo State, where officers recovered more than 412 kilograms of suspected illicit drugs during a coordinated operation.
According to the agency, the raid was carried out based on credible intelligence, leading operatives to the warehouse where large quantities of illegal substances were seized. The husband and wife were arrested at the scene and are currently assisting investigators.
The NDLEA described the operation as a significant breakthrough in its ongoing nationwide campaign against drug trafficking and abuse, noting that the recovered drugs were believed to be intended for distribution across different parts of the country.
The agency said investigations are underway to identify other members of the suspected drug trafficking network and uncover the source and destination of the seized narcotics.
NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), commended the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and vigilance, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug syndicates and protecting communities from the dangers of illicit substances.
He also urged members of the public to continue supporting the agency by providing timely and credible information that would aid efforts to combat drug-related crimes.
The latest seizure adds to a series of successful operations by the NDLEA as it intensifies its crackdown on drug trafficking networks across Nigeria.
