Controversial Diego Maradona agrees big-money deal to become latest Chinese soccer ambassador

Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona confirmed he is in line to become the new ambassador of the Chinese Super League.
The former Argentina national team boss revealed the news on his Instagram account as he discussed the opportunity to work in China saying he would be “eternally grateful”.
Reports in the British media last week suggested the role could earn the World Cup winner millions of pounds as negotiations progressed in Dubai.

The controversial star’s lawyer Matias Morla later confirmed that his client had signed a contract to promote Chinese soccer.
The 56-year-old joins exalted company in being a CSL ambassador. The post has previously been held by global superstar David Beckham, who was succeeded in the role by former Czech international Pavel Nedved.
This announcement follows a recent statement from Maradona that he will be working with Fifa to achieve a clean and transparent organisation to govern international soccer.
