By-Election: Police Restrict Vehicular Movement in Ondo
The Ondo State Police Command has announced a restriction on vehicular movement across the Ondo South Senatorial District ahead of the scheduled by-election, as part of measures to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
According to the command, movement of vehicles will be prohibited from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, the day of the election. The restriction is aimed at enhancing security, preventing electoral malpractice, and enabling security personnel to effectively monitor the conduct of the poll.
Police authorities stated that only essential service providers, including accredited election officials, security operatives, medical personnel, and other authorized individuals, will be exempt from the restriction.
The command urged residents, political parties, and supporters to comply with the directive and conduct themselves peacefully throughout the election period. It also warned against any acts capable of disrupting public order or undermining the integrity of the electoral process.
Security agencies have reportedly deployed personnel to strategic locations across the senatorial district to maintain law and order and respond swiftly to any security concerns that may arise during the exercise.
The police further advised citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, emphasizing that the safety of voters and election officials remains a top priority.
