Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles B team has secured qualification for the 2025 African Nations Championship, defeating Ghana’s Black Galaxies 3-1 in the return leg of their qualifying fixture.

The victory, which came after a goalless draw in the first leg, marked the end of Nigeria’s six-year wait to participate in the championship.

The Eagles B dominated the match, scoring three goals in the first half through Remo Stars duo Sodiq Ismail and Nduka Junior, as well as Rangers’ Kazeem Ogunleye.

Ghana pulled one back in the 73rd minute through Stephen Amankuna, but it was too little, too late.

The team’s qualification is a significant achievement, especially given their previous failures to qualify for the tournament.

The Eagles B will now compete in the 2025 CHAN, co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, from February 1-25, 2025.
