Bandits Abduct Kwara Couple as Army Rescues Kidnap Victims in Kogi

Suspected bandits have abducted a couple in Kwara State, while troops of the Nigerian Army successfully rescued several kidnap victims during separate security operations in neighbouring Kogi State.
The abduction in Kwara has heightened concerns over the persistent threat posed by criminal gangs operating across parts of the North-Central region. Local sources said the victims were taken by armed men who invaded their area and whisked them away to an unknown destination.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army announced the rescue of kidnapped victims in Kogi following a coordinated operation aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts and securing vulnerable communities. The military said troops engaged the suspected kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee.
Security authorities noted that efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators and ensure the safe return of all individuals still being held by criminal groups.
Residents and community leaders have commended the successful rescue operation in Kogi while calling for intensified security measures to curb the rising cases of kidnapping and banditry across the region.
The latest incidents underscore the continuing security challenges facing several states, with authorities pledging to sustain operations against criminal elements and strengthen the protection of lives and property.
