Atiku Faults FG’s Handling of Insecurity, Calls for Urgent Reforms

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has criticized the Federal Government’s approach to tackling insecurity, alleging that authorities have failed to learn from past mistakes despite the growing threat of terrorism and violent attacks across the country.
Atiku expressed concern over the worsening security situation, warning that continued attacks by terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups pose a serious threat to national stability and economic development.
According to him, recurring security breaches and the expansion of violent activities into new areas highlight the need for a comprehensive review of existing security strategies. He argued that the government must adopt more proactive measures to address the root causes of insecurity and improve intelligence gathering.
The former vice president also called for stronger coordination among security agencies, enhanced support for frontline personnel, and greater investment in modern security infrastructure to combat emerging threats.
Atiku stressed that protecting lives and property remains one of the government’s most important responsibilities, urging authorities to act decisively to restore public confidence and safeguard communities affected by violence.
His remarks come amid renewed concerns over attacks in several parts of the country, with stakeholders calling for urgent reforms and a more effective response to Nigeria’s security challenges.
