Airtel Promotes Sustainability Education in Nigerian Schools

The Airtel Africa Foundation has launched the Airtel Green Schools initiative in Nigeria, a programme aimed at promoting sustainability education and equipping students with practical environmental skills to help build a greener future.
The initiative seeks to integrate environmental awareness into school activities by encouraging students to adopt sustainable practices such as waste recycling, tree planting, water conservation and responsible energy use.
According to the Foundation, the programme is designed to empower young people with the knowledge and skills needed to address environmental challenges while fostering a culture of climate responsibility in schools and communities.
The Airtel Green Schools initiative will also provide participating schools with learning resources, training and practical projects that encourage innovation in environmental conservation. Students will be engaged in hands-on activities that promote ecological stewardship and sustainable development.
Airtel Africa Foundation said the programme reflects its commitment to supporting quality education and environmental sustainability across the continent, noting that investing in young people is essential to creating long-term positive social impact.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will help prepare the next generation to tackle climate change and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s sustainable development goals.
