Ghana and Nigeria have agreed to face off in a build-up game before heading for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The tasty clash between the West African rivals will be hosted by the Super Eagles – likely at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba. Match date is expected to be confirmed in an official announcement by both countries.

“We will make good preparation. I think we will have two friendlies – one against Ghana in Nigeria and the second one here in Egypt,” Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr revealed after the draw.

After hosting Ghana, the Super Eagles will likely take on Senegal in their second warm-up game to be played in Egypt.

“Because we are coming [for the tournament] a week before [kickoff], we will do the second friendly against probably Senegal here in Egypt,” he further noted.

Both Ghana and Nigeria avoided each other in Friday night’s draw for the upcoming Nations Cup in Egypt.

Coach Kwasi Appiah’s men found themselves in Group F where they will face defending champions Cameroon as well as West African neighbours Benin and Guinea.

The Black Stars will play their first two games in Ismalia on June 25 and 29 against Benin and Cameroon respectively before traveling to face Guinea Bissau in Suez.

Nigeria a top seed for draw, got Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi in Group B of the 2019 Afcon.

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled for June 21 to July 19.
