ADAMAWA SPEAKER DENIES PLANS TO DUMP APC
The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, has dismissed reports that he is planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to another political party.
Wesley described the reports as unfounded rumours, insisting that there is no plan on his part to leave the APC.
The speculation over his alleged defection comes at a time when political activities are intensifying across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections, with politicians and political parties increasingly engaged in consultations, alliances and realignments.
The Adamawa State House of Assembly Speaker has, however, sought to put an end to the speculation surrounding his political future, maintaining his affiliation with the APC.
Reports of possible defections by prominent politicians have become a recurring feature of Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly as the country approaches another election cycle.
Wesley’s denial is therefore expected to ease concerns among his supporters and party members who had been following the reports of his alleged movement to another political platform.
The Speaker remains a key political figure in Adamawa State, where political parties are expected to intensify their activities as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
For now, Wesley has made his position clear, rejecting the reports of an impending defection and signalling that he remains within the APC.
