TRUMP ADVISER BRIEFING RAISES FRESH CONCERNS OVER TINUBU’S HEALTH
A security briefing reportedly submitted to a person who advises United States President Donald Trump on international security has raised concerns about the health of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
The document was prepared by Mike Arnold, a former mayor of Blanco, Texas, and founder of Africa Arise International. Arnold said he submitted the briefing to a Trump adviser and raised concerns about Tinubu’s recent extended stay in Europe, his absence from the United Nations General Assembly and what he described as signs of declining health.
The briefing also raised questions about the possible political and security implications of any sudden change in Nigeria’s leadership ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
However, the claims about Tinubu’s health have not been independently confirmed by a medical report or an authoritative US government source. The briefing should therefore not be treated as confirmation that the President is seriously ill.
Tinubu has previously dismissed speculation about his health. After returning to Nigeria on September 29 following his extended stay in Europe, the President told journalists that he was healthy and ready to resume work.
Tinubu also described reports about his health as rumours, saying he was ready to continue his duties as President.
The latest briefing has nevertheless renewed public discussion about the President’s health and the possible political implications as Nigeria approaches the 2027 presidential election.
