SOKOTO GOV SEEKS FG, STATE PARTNERSHIP AGAINST INSECURITY
Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has called for stronger collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments to tackle banditry, kidnapping and other security challenges across Nigeria.
The governor made the appeal as the country marked its 66th Independence Anniversary, stressing the need for a coordinated approach to address insecurity and protect lives and property.
Aliyu said security challenges require collective efforts from all levels of government, adding that closer cooperation would strengthen intelligence sharing, security operations and responses to threats.
He also highlighted the importance of equipping security agencies with the necessary resources and improving collaboration between federal and state authorities to address criminal activities.
The governor’s appeal comes amid continuing security concerns in Sokoto and other parts of the North-West, where communities have faced attacks, abductions and threats from armed groups.
Aliyu urged governments and relevant stakeholders to intensify efforts towards restoring peace and stability, noting that improved security is essential for economic activities, development and the well-being of citizens.
