Dangote Denies Claims Marketers Re-Import Fuel Via Togo
Lagos, Nigeria – Dangote Petroleum Refinery has dismissed claims that Nigerian fuel marketers re-import its refined petroleum products through Togo, describing the allegations as “unfounded and misleading.”
The refinery was reacting to a report attributed to S&P Global, which suggested that some marketers were routing Dangote-produced fuel through neighboring countries before bringing it back into Nigeria.
In a statement, the company rejected the claims and insisted that its products are supplied directly to the Nigerian market through established distribution channels.
Dangote Refinery stated that the allegations misrepresent its operations and could create unnecessary confusion about the country’s petroleum supply chain.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and supporting Nigeria’s energy security through the production of high-quality petroleum products.
According to the refinery, its focus remains on meeting domestic fuel demand, reducing dependence on imports, and contributing to the growth of the nation’s economy.
Industry stakeholders have continued to monitor developments in the downstream sector as Nigeria seeks to strengthen local refining capacity and improve fuel supply stability.
The refinery maintained that its operations are conducted in line with regulatory requirements and international best practices, urging the public to disregard what it described as inaccurate reports.
