NITDA Disowns CPM Fund Recovery Claims, Warns Against Online Fraud

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has denied claims linking the agency to the recovery of funds allegedly lost on the online investment platform known as “CPM.”
In a disclaimer issued to the public, NITDA said it is not involved in any compensation, refund, or recovery arrangement connected to the platform, warning Nigerians against falling victim to fraudsters using the agency’s name.
The agency explained that some individuals and groups have been circulating false messages online, claiming that NITDA is coordinating the recovery of funds for victims affected by the collapsed digital scheme.
NITDA stressed that it has neither authorised any person nor partnered with any organisation to collect personal details, processing fees, or account information from members of the public regarding the CPM matter.
The agency urged Nigerians to ignore suspicious links, unofficial websites, and social media messages requesting payments or sensitive information in exchange for promised refunds.
According to NITDA, cybercriminals are exploiting the situation to scam desperate victims, adding that the public should verify all information through the agency’s official communication channels.
The agency further advised affected individuals to report suspected fraud attempts to relevant law enforcement and cybersecurity authorities while remaining cautious of online financial recovery schemes.
