VIDEO: NDLEA Busts Drugs Hidden in Parcels, Warns Travellers
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered narcotics cleverly concealed in parcels during a recent operation, warning travellers against carrying luggage or packages that do not belong to them. 🚨
In a video released by the agency, NDLEA operatives were seen inspecting several parcels where illicit drugs had been carefully hidden to evade security checks. The agency said the discovery was made during routine screening and intelligence-led operations aimed at intercepting illegal substances moving through transport channels.
According to the anti-narcotics agency, traffickers are increasingly adopting deceptive methods to smuggle drugs, including hiding them inside parcels, everyday items, and luggage belonging to unsuspecting travellers.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Buba Marwa, reiterated the agency’s warning to members of the public, especially travellers, to be cautious.
He advised travellers not to accept parcels or bags from strangers or acquaintances without verifying their contents, noting that doing so could expose them to serious legal consequences if illegal substances are discovered.
The agency stressed that individuals caught transporting drugs—whether knowingly or unknowingly—may still face investigation and prosecution under Nigeria’s drug laws.
NDLEA also reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying surveillance at airports, courier services, and transport hubs across the country as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking.
The agency urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, adding that cooperation from citizens is crucial in the fight against illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria. 📦✈️
