FG Moves to Finalise PPP for 250MW Ikom Dam Project
The Federal Government has begun moves to finalise a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement for the development of the 250-megawatt Ikom Dam hydropower project.
Officials say the project is designed to boost electricity generation while also addressing flood control and water management challenges in the region.
According to government sources, the dam will play a vital role in supporting economic growth by providing reliable power supply, improving irrigation for agriculture, and creating opportunities for local development.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the government to attract private sector investment into critical infrastructure projects, particularly in the power sector.
When completed, the Ikom Dam is expected to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s renewable energy capacity while strengthening resilience against flooding in surrounding communities.
