Hold Your Lawmakers Accountable, Akpabio Urges Nigerians

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged Nigerians to actively hold their elected representatives accountable, stressing that citizen engagement is essential for a healthy democracy.

Akpabio made the call while addressing stakeholders, emphasizing that lawmakers must remain responsive to the needs and expectations of the people they represent.

He noted that democracy can only thrive when citizens demand transparency, performance, and responsibility from those elected into public office.

The Senate President encouraged Nigerians to monitor the activities of their representatives, ask questions about policies and decisions, and ensure that public officials fulfil their campaign promises.

According to him, greater public participation in governance will help strengthen democratic institutions and improve service delivery across the country.

Akpabio added that lawmakers also have a duty to remain accessible to their constituents and work toward policies that promote national development and the wellbeing of Nigerians.
