NSC Backs Power Sector Workers’ Maiden NESI Games

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has pledged its support for the inaugural NESI Games, a first-of-its-kind sporting event designed to foster unity and promote wellness among workers in Nigeria’s electricity industry.

The initiative, driven by stakeholders within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI), aims to strengthen camaraderie across agencies and operators while also stimulating interest in sports-based engagement within the sector. Organizers say the competition will bring together professionals from various power institutions, encouraging teamwork beyond the workplace.

By endorsing the games, the NSC underscored the growing recognition of sports as a tool for social cohesion and economic activity. Officials noted that events like the NESI Games can contribute to a healthier workforce, enhance inter-agency relationships, and create opportunities within the sports economy.

Industry observers view the development as a creative step toward boosting morale in a sector often challenged by operational pressures. The games are expected to feature multiple sporting disciplines, providing a platform for networking and positive engagement.

With preparations underway, the NESI Games are already generating interest among employees and administrators, signaling what many hope will become a recurring event on the sector’s calendar.
