1. A violent clash between the Ondo State Police Command and operatives of the Amotekun Corps has left six people injured in Akure, the state capital. The confrontation erupted over the custody of a suspect accused of stealing property from a church near the Sunday Bus Stop, Ijoka.
2. Former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Oseloka Obaze, has resigned from the Labour Party (LP), citing unresolved leadership issues at the national level. Obaze, who also served as Peter Obi’s campaign manager, expressed concerns over the party’s handling of internal affairs and protested the conduct of the April 5, 2025, governorship primary in the state, describing it as fraud.
3. Four seminarians from the Enugu Catholic Church who were visiting the Obudu Ranch Resort on a tour Saturday have reportedly died in a bus crash at Ikwette Village, located at the Bottom Hill of Obudu Ranch in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State. The state governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, confirmed the incident in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gill.

Former Minister of Education and prominent public accountability advocate, Oby Ezekwesili, has firmly denied allegations that she received bribes to support Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in her sexual harassment claims against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. She said money cannot buy her stand on any matter.

Speaking on Sunday during a meeting with the 484 NNPP councillors in the state, the governor described the accuser as a person that is mentally imbalanced.
7. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has refuted the claim that it has fixed May 27 as date for the resumption of Continuous Voters Registration (CVR), transfers and replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). The electoral umpire made the clarification following the circulating online information claiming that it will resume the CVR and other related services on May 27, 2025.
8. President Bola Tinubu is expected to meet with the leadership of Nigeria’s power-generating companies as part of an emergency effort to address the N4tn debt threatening to cripple the country’s electricity supply chain. The move follows a high-level meeting on Tuesday between the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and the chairmen of Gencos in Abuja, amid mounting fears of a possible collapse of the national grid due to liquidity constraints in the sector.
9. The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended 21-year-old Precious Anegbode for allegedly stabbing to death one Damilola, said to be her boyfriend, in the Ijegun area of Lagos. It was gathered that the suspect, last Friday, visited the home of the deceased where a fierce argument ensued. The argument was said to have degenerated into an altercation.
10. The Police Command in Bauchi State says it has apprehended four individuals involved in the production of counterfeit herbicides in Inkil, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis. The Command’s Spokesman, CSP Ahmed Wakil, made this known to newsmen on Sunday in Bauchi. He said that the operation, based on credible intelligence, was conducted on May 3, around 1:30 p.m. by detectives from the Command’s Monitoring Unit.
