Police foil robbery attempt in Kebbi, neutralize suspect, recover weapon
The Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has foiled a robbery operation in Kamba town, Dandi Local Government Area, neutralizing one suspect and recovering a Beretta pistol with live ammunition.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the incident occurred in the early hours of April 19. A group of about four armed robbers had barricaded Marina Road in Kamba District, targeting unsuspecting commuters.
Upon receiving a distress report, the Divisional Police Officer in Kamba quickly mobilized a joint team of police operatives and local hunters to the scene.
A gun battle ensued, resulting in the death of one of the suspects. The remaining robbers reportedly fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.
Security teams are currently combing the surrounding areas to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover any additional weapons.
Commending the swift response of the security team, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi, CP Bello Sani, praised the bravery and professionalism of the officers involved.
He also appreciated the public for their prompt reporting and urged continued vigilance and cooperation in the fight against crime.
