My first car…with Adekunle Gold
1 min read“My first car was a 1999 Honda ‘Baby Boy’ (Accord). I bought it with my money for N450,000. I chose that car because it was what I could afford. I had a car dealer friend who helped me purchase it. I can’t remember the first place I drove the car to. I serviced the car every three months. I think the tyres were the first parts I replaced. It wasn’t expensive for me to maintain at all my friends were my first passengers. My favourite thing about the car was that, though people often said the ball joint of the suspension could pop out unexpectedly on the road, it never happened to me. I didn’t have to spend too much money on any repairs. My least favourite thing about the car, however, was the fact that I had to take it to the mechanic to work on the air conditioner all the time. That was the only thing I didn’t like. I never crashed the car, but someone else did — a friend drove it one time and crashed it. I think he was speeding, but I was not in the car. I eventually fixed it. My longest ride in the car was when I drove it from Lagos State to Sagamu (Ogun State). I eventually sold it. I don’t remember exactly how much I sold it for, but I think it was N400,000. I used it for about two years.” — Adekunle Gold
