NECO Accredits More Foreign Schools In Niger, Equatorial Guinea For SSCE, BECE
1 min readThe National Examinations Council (NECO) has expanded its global reach by accrediting additional foreign schools in Niger Republic and Equatorial Guinea for its Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Azeez Sanni, NECO’s acting director of public relations, announced the accreditation in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the accreditation follows a visit by NECO’s accreditation team, who assessed the readiness of the schools to conduct the examinations.

The team evaluated critical facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer labs, workshops, examination halls, and sports facilities, ensuring they meet the standards required for NECO exams.
The accreditation process has resulted in these schools being granted full status to conduct both SSCE and BECE. This builds upon the initial accreditation of schools in Niger Republic last year.
The NECO team also revealed that candidates are currently participating in the ongoing NECO SSCE External exam at the UNHCR School in Diffa, Niger Republic—making it the first-ever NECO SSCE External Centre outside Nigeria.
As of now, NECO exams are being written in Benin Republic, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger Republic, Equatorial Guinea, and Saudi Arabia.
