Police Deny Invading CDHR Office In Lagos

1 min read

The Lagos State Police Command has denied allegations that its personnel invaded the office of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Ikeja, Lagos. CDHR had accused the police of laying siege to their headquarters, violating their rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech.

However, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that police personnel were present around the office but did not invade the venue. He added that the symposium held by CDHR was not interrupted and was provided with adequate security.

Hundeyin said, “The police were present around the venue but at no point did the police invade the venue or stop anyone from gaining access to the venue. The symposium held without any form of hindrance and under adequate security provided by the police and other security agencies.”

He also stated that the police provided security for CDHR’s procession from Adeniyi Jones to Alausa, contradicting claims of an invasion.
