You Can’t Win With Violence, Oyetola Tells PDP
2 min readThe Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Tuesday, warned the Peoples Democratic Party against stoking violence ahead of the July 16 governorship poll.
Oyetola, who spoke in Otan Ayegbaju, during a campaign rally, said it was clear people of the state had rejected the PDP, and added that the PDP could not win back the support of the electorate by indulging in violence.
He said, “I want to use this opportunity to warn the PDP in the state against taking the residents of the state for granted by their continuous violence toward the Osun gubernatorial poll. It is obvious that the state is against them, they must not use violence to win the heart of the electorate. Voting is not by violence.

“Osun residents are the landlord while we, the politicians, are tenants. The PDP’s violent actions in the state are a pointer that they want to chase their landlords away. This is unfortunate! I will continue to see to your security and welfare all the time.”
He advised the electorate not to allow any candidates who lacked governance capacity to run the affairs of a state as delicate as Osun State in the coming year.
Speaking earlier, the Director-General of Oyetola’s campaign, Senator Ajibola Bashir, urged the residents not to be swayed by the alleged violent actions of the PDP but to stand strong in voting for the All Progressives Congress.
The Owa of Otan Ayegbaju, Oba Lukman Fadipe, while receiving Oyetola and his entourage during a courtesy call on him in his palace, said the indelible imprints of the governor would speak for his re-election as, according to him, the governor has performed creditably well to transform the state.
