Vice President Shettima Apologises Over Sokoto Killings
1 min readNigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has apologised to the families of the victims of the recent bombing in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
In a statement, Shettima described the incident as “a rare and deeply saddening instance” where innocent civilians became unintended victims of the military’s operation against terrorists.
“I must say we are sorry and dismayed at the civilian casualties incurred and the excruciating pain that ensues during these extremely difficult times,” Shettima said.

He extended his condolences to the government and people of Sokoto State, particularly the families of those who lost their lives.
Shettima called for understanding and support for the armed forces, emphasising their sacrifices in protecting the lives of those caught in the crossfire.
“On behalf of our gallant officers, I apologise for this great loss. I urge you to continue to provide our brave officers with the assistance they need,” he added.
The Vice President assured the people of Sokoto State of the Federal Government’s commitment to eradicating terror groups and other criminal elements from the country.
