Uruguay hold Brazil in CONMEBOL qualifier, Suarez scores
1 min readReturnee Luis Suarez helped Uruguay to salvage a point away to Brazil in the South America CONMEBOL qualification match.
Brazil had in rapid fire netted two goals before 26 minutes, the first scored in the very first minute of the game by Douglas Costa.
But Uruguay responded, halfing the deficit before the end of the first half, with a goal by Edinson Cavani in the 32nd minute, 6 minutes after Renato Augusto had increased Brazil’s tally to 2-0.
And then Suarez struck 3 minutes after the resumption of play to give Uruguay the equaliser. Final score, Brazil 2, Uruguay 2.
It was a disappointing evening for Neymar, Suarez’ s Barcelona team mate as he failed to score for Brazil.
With the game, Uruguay, with 10 points retain their second position on the table behind Ecuador. Brazil moved third, with eight points, tied with Paraguay and Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
