Troops Kill Terrorists, Recover Arms, Livestock in Multiple Operations — Army
The Nigerian Army has announced that its troops have neutralised several terrorists and recovered arms, ammunition, and stolen livestock during coordinated operations conducted across different theatres of operation in the country.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director, Army Public Relations, the operations were carried out in collaboration with other security agencies as part of ongoing efforts to rid the country of criminal elements and restore peace in troubled areas.
The Army disclosed that troops engaged terrorists in fierce gun battles in parts of the North-East and North-West, leading to the killing of several insurgents, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
During the operations, soldiers also recovered a cache of weapons, including assault rifles, ammunition, motorcycles, and communication equipment. In addition, a large number of rustled livestock were rescued from the criminals and returned to their rightful owners.
The statement further revealed that suspected gunrunners and collaborators were arrested during the raids, adding that preliminary investigations are ongoing to unravel their networks and sponsors.
“The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country. Our troops will continue to sustain offensive operations against terrorists and other criminal elements until lasting peace is achieved,” the statement said.
Residents of the affected communities were urged to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid ongoing operations.
The latest success comes amid renewed efforts by the military to degrade terrorist networks, curb banditry, and strengthen security across Nigeria.
