Troops Kill 45 Bandits, Lose Three Soldiers In Katsina Gun Battle
Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly killed 45 suspected bandits during a fierce gun battle in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on security developments in the Lake Chad region, the clash occurred during a military operation targeting bandit groups operating in the area.
The report stated that troops engaged the armed bandits in an intense exchange of gunfire, resulting in the deaths of dozens of the attackers.
However, the operation also came at a cost to the military, as three soldiers were reportedly killed during the confrontation.
Security sources said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to combat banditry and restore security in parts of Katsina and the wider north-west region, where armed groups have been responsible for attacks, kidnappings, and other violent crimes.
Military authorities are yet to release an official statement confirming the casualty figures, while operations against the bandit groups are said to be continuing in the area.
