Tinubu Departs for Türkiye on State Visit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday departed Abuja for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties and expanding cooperation between both countries in key sectors.
The visit is expected to focus on deepening bilateral relations, with discussions centered on security collaboration, trade expansion, investment opportunities, and industrial development. Senior government officials said the engagement reflects Nigeria’s commitment to forging strategic partnerships that support economic growth and national security.
During the visit, President Tinubu is scheduled to hold high-level talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as well as meet with business leaders and investors to explore avenues for increased Turkish investment in Nigeria.
Türkiye has remained an important partner to Nigeria in areas such as defense, construction, energy, and manufacturing. Analysts believe the visit could lead to new agreements and memoranda of understanding that will boost trade volume and enhance cooperation in counter-terrorism and technology transfer.
President Tinubu is accompanied by top government officials and is expected to return to the country after the completion of the visit.
