Tahir Mamman Unveils New Phase of Technical and Vocational Education and Training Reforms in London

Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, has unveiled a new phase of reforms in the country’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system during a series of meetings in London, United Kingdom.

The minister said the initiative is aimed at tackling youth unemployment and strengthening skills development across Nigeria by aligning vocational education with global standards and industry needs.

According to him, the new phase of reforms will focus on expanding training opportunities, improving the quality of vocational institutions, and building partnerships with international organisations and private sector stakeholders.

Mamman noted that enhancing the TVET system would equip Nigerian youths with practical skills required in modern industries, thereby improving their employability and supporting economic growth.

He also stressed the importance of global collaboration in advancing technical education, adding that discussions in London were geared toward attracting investment, expertise, and partnerships that would strengthen Nigeria’s vocational training programmes.

The reforms form part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to prioritise skills acquisition and create sustainable employment opportunities for young people across the country.
