Student Loan Scheme: Northern States Dominate Application
1 min readThe Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has revealed that students from Kano, Borno, Benue, and Katsina states are the top applicants for the students’ loan scheme.
According to a data chart released by the fund, Kano students topped the list with 17,122 applicants, followed by Borno and Benue with 13,798 and 11,754 applicants respectively.
The data also showed that Katsina had 10,952 applicants, while Kaduna had 10,380. Other states with a high number of applicants include Plateau, Oyo, Adamawa, Kogi, Osun, Kwara, Taraba, Yobe, Ogun, Akwa-Ibom, Bauchi, Kebbi, Gombe, Niger, and Jigawa.

As of the last record, the fund said that over N3 billion had been disbursed to students. The loan scheme aims to support students in accessing higher education.
In a statement, NELFUND said: “We are committed to ensuring that Nigerian students have access to quality education, and we will continue to work towards achieving this goal.”
