Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Sen. Sani Calls On Buhari To Make Public Clarification
2 min readSenator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to make a public clarification concerning claim made by Gov. Nasir El-rufai that he was consulted on the Muslim-Muslim ticket in Kaduna.
Civil Rights Activist argued that President Muhammadu Buhari “who has always respected religious sensitivities, when nominating his vice could have recommended otherwise for Kaduna”.
Senator Sani made this call on his official twitter handle.
It would be called that Gov. Nasir El-rufai picked Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, a fellow Muslim as his running for 2019 governorship election. That decision has generated a lot of criticism.
El-rufai has justified his decision saying it was base on merit and that he consulted President Muhammadu Buhari before he made the decision.
“We consult President Muhammadu Buhari, because he is the only person I know that has worked in the army, he has been Governor, Minister and President.
“So, when I told him, he said anyone older than me should be dropped. Then one name was dropped, remaining two men and two women, then he said ‘since you are interested in a woman, pick the best woman’. That was how I picked Hadiza, because she was the best.”
Senator Shehu Sani’s tweet:
Prez name is dragged into the politics of manipulation of religion in KD state, there’s the need for him to make a public clarification. Its puzzling that a Prez who has always respected religious sensitivities, when nominating his vice could have recommended otherwise for Kaduna.
