Ramadan: Adamawa gov relaxes night-time restriction on tricycles
YOLA, Adamawa State — Ahmadu Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, has approved a temporary relaxation of the night-time movement restriction on commercial tricycles, locally known as Keke NAPEP, for the duration of the 2026 Ramadan fasting period.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, the existing restriction — previously enforced from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. — has now been adjusted to run from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily throughout the holy month, effective immediately.
The state government explained that the adjustment was introduced to ease movement for Muslim faithful, particularly those attending late-night prayers, tafsir sessions and other religious activities that extend beyond the original curfew start time.
The restriction was initially instituted under the Adamawa State Restriction of Movement of Tricycles/Motorcycles Executive Order No. 1 of 2021 as part of efforts to maintain public safety and security in the state.
Governor Fintiri also directed security agencies to intensify patrols in key areas including Yola North, Yola South, and Girei to ensure the safety of residents and property while maintaining public order during the period.
He further appealed to residents to observe responsibly and uphold peace, warning that violations of the law will be met with decisive action.
This move aligns with similar Ramadan-time adjustments by other state governments aimed at balancing religious observance with security considerations.
