Presidency Praises Pro-Buhari Protesters For Their Faith And Trust
2 min readThe Presidency has thanked protesters who came out in Nigeria’s capital Abuja today to express support for President Muhammadu Buhari, one day after rival protesters demanding that the President resumes or resign were attacked.
his group of protesters, bearing placards with slogans expressing support for the Buhari Administration, marched towards the Presidential Villa.
To them, the Federal Government had performed creditably well and should be left to continue its work.
Provided security by the police and other security agencies, they were received at the 3 Arms Zone by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, who was delighted at what their march symbolised.
“I can see from the banners you are holding, from the placards, that you cut across different areas of the Niger Delta; I have seen Itsekiri, I have seen Ogoni – so many other areas, Urhobo, Isokko. Indeed, this is very good, it shows that Nigeria will remain one country,” Mr Adesina told the protesters.
The Presidential spokesman didn’t stop there, he used the occasion to point out that some people were promoting ethnicity with a view to causing disunity in the country.
“What we have noticed is that some people have made efforts to create ethnic cleavages in the country, but what you have done today has reinforced our faith that Nigeria will remain one,” he said.
For this, Mr Adesina thanked the protesters, adding the Buhari administration would not fail them.
He said, “We want to thank you because you have shown your faith and trust in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. That, indeed, is a leadership we can trust. That is a leadership you know will not take us for a ride. It is a leadership that wouldn’t steal our money; it is a leadership that will do the best for our country.”
