Praise, Criticism as Saraki Intervenes in LAUTECH Crisis
1 min readCommendations have continued to trail the intervention of the President of the Senate in the ongoing strike by lecturers of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.
The institution had been under lock for several months as lecturers protest non-payment of salaries, allowances and pensions even as the government of Osun and Oyo allege mismanagement of funds.
Lecturers in the institution under the Academic Staff Union of Universities insist the government owe them N8bn in arrears.
In a bid to end the lingering crisis, the President of the Senate met with students of the institution to discuss the possibility of resolving the problem at the shortest possible time.
In the meeting which was aired live on the facebook page of the President of the Senate, Saraki promised to get to the bottom of the matter and ensure the school resumes academic activities.
The meeting and promised intervention of Saraki have generated wide commendation on Facebook by some Nigerians who watched the video.
While some praised Saraki for his intervention, others said that his intervention had won them over from being critics of the senator to being his supporters.
However, some others were of the opinion that his intervention was merely to score political points while other questions his sincerity of purpose.
