Police Investigate Lagos DPO Over Alleged Power Abuse

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into allegations of power abuse and intimidation levelled against the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Olosan Police Station, CSP Ayanwale Ayodeji.

The investigation follows a viral video and social media reports accusing the senior police officer of misconduct, including alleged abuse of authority and intimidation of members of the public. The development has sparked widespread reactions online, with calls for accountability and transparency within the Nigeria Police Force.

Confirming the probe, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer said the command is aware of the allegations and has taken steps to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation. He stated that the police authorities do not condone any form of misconduct and remain committed to upholding professionalism, discipline, and the rule of law.

“The Lagos State Police Command has ordered an investigation into the allegations against the officer. Appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken if the allegations are found to be true,” he said.

According to the police spokesperson, the officer involved has been directed to cooperate fully with investigators, while members of the public with relevant information have been encouraged to come forward to aid the inquiry.

The command also urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, assuring the public that justice will be served in line with established procedures.

The investigation is part of ongoing efforts by the police to address complaints of misconduct and rebuild public trust, particularly as issues of police accountability and citizens’ rights continue to draw national attention.
