Police Arrest Six Suspected Notorious Armed Robbers in FCT

Abuja — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested six suspected notorious armed robbers allegedly linked to a series of violent crimes, including armed attacks on nightclubs and other public places within Abuja.

According to the Command, the suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the Command’s tactical teams following weeks of surveillance and credible intelligence on the activities of the criminal gang.

Police sources said the suspects were believed to be responsible for several late-night robberies, during which victims were reportedly dispossessed of valuables such as mobile phones, jewellery, cash, and other personal items at gunpoint. Some of the attacks were said to have occurred at popular nightlife spots across different parts of the city, causing fear among residents and business owners.

Items reportedly recovered from the suspects include firearms, ammunition, and other exhibits believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes. The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting the police with investigations to uncover other members of the gang and recover additional weapons.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, while confirming the arrests, commended the officers involved in the operation and reiterated the Command’s commitment to ridding the nation’s capital of criminal elements. He urged residents to continue to support the police by providing timely and useful information that can aid crime prevention and detection.

He also assured members of the public that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, adding that the Command has intensified patrols and surveillance, especially around nightlife hotspots, to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.

The FCT Police Command advised the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
