Police Arrest Man For Selling Sister’s Baby For N2m In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly selling his sister’s newborn baby for N2 million in Lagos.

According to police sources, the suspect reportedly took the child without the mother’s consent and sold the baby to an unidentified buyer. He later claimed that the money was meant to cover expenses for their late mother’s burial.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred within the state, prompting concerned individuals to alert authorities after the baby was reported missing.

Police operatives subsequently tracked down and arrested the suspect during an investigation into the disappearance of the child.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate the buyer and recover the baby safely. Authorities said investigations are also underway to determine whether the suspect acted alone or with the help of accomplices.

Officials described the act as a serious criminal offence, noting that child trafficking and illegal adoption are punishable under Nigerian law.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to face charges in court once investigations are concluded.

Meanwhile, the police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities involving children to the nearest security agency.
