2 min readA delegation of the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Caretaker Committee and other top members of the party led by its Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, on Wednesday visited some prominent members of the PDP who are in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Members of the delegation included the PDP National Secretary, Senator Ben Obi; the National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the National Organising Secretary, Senator Abdul Ningi; a former Special Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Akin Osuntokun; cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Robert Azibaola, Senator Ughesi and Hajiya Binta Kuraye.
They arrived the EFCC at 2.30pm where they met a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode; a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; a former FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed; and a former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Media, Dr. Reuben Abati.
According to inside sources, the delegation encouraged all the suspects that they visited and expressed full solidarity with them.
They further said that they were happy to see that despite their challenges and “unwarranted detention,” they were still strong and in high spirits while urging them to keep the flag flying.
The visitors assured all of them that the PDP family was solidly behind them and urged them to keep their heads held up high and remain strong.
In their response, our sources said the four detainees expressed their gratitude to the delegation for the visit and the leadership they have demonstrated by coming to see them.
Five senators from the PDP and the All Progressives Congress had also on Tuesday visited the EFCC custody to show solidarity for the former ministers who are being quizzed for alleged financial mismanagement while in office.
