Party logo: YDP seeks cancellation of Edo, Ondo elections
1 min readThe Young Democratic Party said in Abuja on Monday that it would push for the cancellation of the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states over wrong use of its logo on the ballot papers by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The National Publicity Secretary of YDP, Idris Usman, told journalists that the party would “seek every legal means to ensure that the governorship elections in the two states which were purportedly won by candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress were cancelled.”
He said, “The YDP has concluded plans to ensure that we pursue in court, the cancellation of the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states for justice to be established. We will ensure a resolution of the section of voters who were denied the right to carry out their civic responsibility.
“This is because, just like last Edo State governorship election, the logo of YDP was wrongly used by INEC in the ballot paper of the just-concluded governorship election in Ondo State. This confused our supporters. It’s time we stopped paying lip service to the inclusion of the younger generation in governance.”
According to YDP, the #NotTooYoungToContest# campaign should be supported by providing an enabling ground for all irrespective of the financial status of the party.
“We, therefore, call on all well-meaning Nigerians, especially the young generation to join in this process so that justice can be done to the discriminated sector of the society,” the YDP emphasised.
