Otti Applauds CCB’s Move to Digitise Asset Declaration Process

Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has commended the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) for its plan to digitise the asset declaration process for public officials, describing it as a progressive step toward transparency and accountability.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement, Otti said the transition from manual to digital asset declaration aligns with global best practices and will significantly improve efficiency in monitoring public office holders. He noted that the move would reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks and enhance the credibility of the system.

The governor emphasized that digitisation would also help curb corruption by making it easier to track discrepancies in asset declarations and ensure compliance with legal requirements. According to him, leveraging technology is essential in strengthening governance and restoring public trust in institutions.

The CCB’s initiative is expected to allow public officials to submit and update their asset records electronically, enabling faster verification and improved data management. Analysts believe the reform could mark a turning point in Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts if properly implemented.

Otti further urged other government institutions to adopt similar digital reforms, stressing that innovation remains key to improving service delivery and institutional integrity across the country.

The development comes amid increasing calls for stronger accountability mechanisms in Nigeria’s public sector, with stakeholders advocating reforms that promote openness and reduce opportunities for financial misconduct.
