Ogun Students Hail Abiodun as Late MAPOLY Best Graduate’s Family Receives ₦2.5m

Students across Ogun State have commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for approving the release of ₦2.5 million to the family of the late best graduating student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of compassionate and people-centred leadership.

The students, under various platforms and associations, said the governor’s intervention had brought relief to the bereaved family while also honouring the academic excellence of the deceased graduate, whose outstanding performance had earned him the institution’s overall best graduating student award before his untimely death.

They noted that the financial support not only reflects the state government’s commitment to education but also underscores its resolve to recognise and reward excellence, even posthumously.

According to the students, the governor’s action would serve as encouragement to other students across tertiary institutions in the state to remain focused and strive for academic excellence, with the assurance that their efforts would not go unnoticed.

Some of the students also urged the state government to sustain such interventions by expanding scholarship schemes, grants, and welfare packages for outstanding and indigent students.

The ₦2.5 million support was recently presented to the family of the late graduate on the directive of Governor Abiodun, following widespread calls for government intervention after the tragic death.

Governor Abiodun has consistently reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritising education and human capital development as key pillars of his development agenda for Ogun State.
