NYSC Delay Traps Thousands of Polytechnic Graduates
Thousands of polytechnic graduates across Nigeria are facing uncertainty and career setbacks following prolonged delays in their mobilisation for the mandatory national service.
The affected graduates say they have been unable to participate in the programme organised by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), leaving many stranded months after completing their academic programmes.
Reports indicate that the delay is linked to issues such as verification of academic records, institutional documentation challenges, and limited mobilisation quotas allocated to some polytechnics.
Many of the graduates expressed frustration over the situation, noting that the delay has hindered their chances of securing employment and advancing their careers, as completion of the NYSC scheme remains a requirement for most job opportunities in Nigeria.
Stakeholders have called on the NYSC and relevant educational authorities to address the bottlenecks quickly and ensure that affected graduates are mobilised without further delay.
