NUPRC Advances Offshore Exploration with New Seismic Licence
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has signed a seismic licence agreement with SeaSeis to acquire new 3D seismic data aimed at boosting offshore oil and gas exploration.
According to the commission, the project will cover about 11,700 square kilometres of offshore territory and is expected to provide detailed geological data to support future exploration activities.
Officials said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to expand hydrocarbon exploration and attract more investment into the country’s energy sector.
The new seismic data is expected to help identify untapped resources and improve decision-making for oil and gas operators working in Nigeria’s offshore basins.
NUPRC noted that the agreement marks another step toward strengthening Nigeria’s upstream petroleum industry and enhancing energy development in Nigeria.
