Nigeria’s Best Players Are in Europe , Says Rohr
1 min readSuper Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has made it clear that the best players Nigeria has are not within the shores of the country but abroad.
This could mean closing the door to players plying their trade on the home soil.
The Super Eagles will play two friendly games in France next month before taking on South Africa in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers on June 10.
They will also lock horns with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in back to back 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Followers of the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, have in recent time, called on the coach to consider some home based professionals in his team selection.
However, the coach told Own Goal, “We have players we want to test with the upcoming friendlies.
“We will also look at some areas of the team that needs strengthening during the games, so we won’t call up players for the sake of it.
“Right now the best Nigerian players are in Europe. When a player is playing well at home he wants to go to Europe.”
