Nigerians Want Impact, Not Figures — Natasha Speaks on Tinubu’s ₦58.18trn Budget

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that Nigeria’s proposed ₦58.18 trillion 2026 budget translates into real and measurable benefits for citizens, rather than remaining impressive figures on paper.

Speaking on the budget proposal, the senator stressed that Nigerians are more concerned about tangible improvements in their daily lives than headline-breaking numbers. According to her, issues such as rising cost of living, unemployment, insecurity, poor healthcare, and deteriorating infrastructure must be directly addressed through effective budget implementation.

Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that while the size of the budget reflects the government’s ambition, its true success will be judged by how well it improves the welfare of ordinary Nigerians. She urged the federal government to prioritize transparency, accountability, and people-oriented spending to ensure funds reach critical sectors of the economy.

The senator also emphasized the need for strategic allocation of resources to education, healthcare, power supply, and job creation, adding that citizens expect visible results from public spending amid current economic challenges.

President Tinubu recently presented the ₦58.18 trillion budget proposal as part of efforts to stimulate economic growth and stabilize the economy. As deliberations continue, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s comments echo growing public calls for budgets that deliver concrete impact rather than lofty projections.
