An intelligence officer said the military received information about the activities of the terrorists in the area.

The source said when the last signal was received, troops laid an ambush for the terrorists along the routes and neutralised them on sight.

“We have recovered seven bodies of the terrorists, their AK 47 Rifles, Anti Aircraft gun and motorcycles.

“Some of the suspected IEDs found on the road were destroyed by the Army’s Bomb Disposal Unit”, the officer to PRNigeria.

During his visit to Sambisa Forest, the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, Brig-General Adelokun Eyitayo advised troops to be extra vigilant.

Terror groups use landmines as part of ambush tactics against security forces. They also plant bombs around their enclaves to deter troops from advancing further.
