1. Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State says that the ongoing attacks and killings in some parts of the state is a coordinated crime sponsored by conflict merchants and not farmer-herder clashes. The governor said this during the Fashion and Arts Exhibition organised by the Tincity Fashion Week titled “The Plateau Experience”, in Abuja.
2. Governor Chukwuma Soludo has emerged as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State. Soludo was the sole aspirant at the APGA governorship primary on Saturday at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
3. Oba Abimbola Owoade has been crowned the 46th Alaafin of Oyo. Owoade succeeds the 45th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who died on April 22, 2022, at 83.
4. The Lagos State Government on Saturday expressed sadness over the tragic death of a pregnant woman, Mrs. Folajimi, in Lakowe, Ibeju-Lekki. The reaction followed the incident allegedly involving a birth attendant and a private healthcare facility that denied the woman care due to a lack of financial deposit.
5. There are indications that Nigerians would pay less for the Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol, as the price of Brent dropped to $65 per barrel from $69.90 per barrel in the global market. Checks indicated that the development was partly fueled by U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of sweeping new tariffs.
6. Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has summoned the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, to force headquarters, Abuja, for questioning over the death of one of his palace guards. The guard was stabbed to death on March 30, 2025, at Kofar Mata Eid Ground during the last Eid celebration.
7. The Nigerian Navy has been ordered to reinstate Naval Rating Officer Fagbemi Babatunde and pay him all outstanding salaries, benefits, and pension contributions from August 2008 to date. Babatunde was also awarded N7 million in damages and N1 million for legal costs.
8. At least 25 people, including an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps lost their lives while eight people were reportedly injured in two separate multiple crashes which occurred in Ogun State on Saturday. The Spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe disclosed this in a statement sent to journalists on Saturday.
9. A former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Chief George Moughalu, has emerged as the candidate of the Labour Party ahead of the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship poll. Moughalu polled a total of 573 votes to defeat his only rival, John Nwosu, who got 19 votes, at the primary held at Finotel Hotel, Awka, on Saturday.
10. Two Chinese expatriates and their police escort have been killed by gunmen in Abia State. The Abia State Police Command, which confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday, said its operatives, in collaboration with personnel of sister security agencies, successfully rescued four other Chinese expatriates and two police escorts from the gunmen.
