Nigerian Newspapers: 10 things you need to know Monday morning

1. Drivers and owners of trucks conveying goods from the North to the South East have protested against incessant killing of their members by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra. They staged the protest yesterday in Jos, Plateau State capital, decrying that many of their members had been killed and their vehicles burnt in the attacks.
2. Four students of the Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA), residing in the Paris Quarters area of Dutsinma, Katsina State, have been abducted by bandits. A resident said the attack occurred around 2:20am on Sunday when the armed assailants, disguised and wielding AK-47 rifles, stormed the area and kidnapped the students.
3. Former Governor Achike Udenwa of Imo State has said Nigerian elections can be bought by those who have enough money. Speaking on State Affairs, a podcast hosted by On-Air-Personality, Edmund Obilo, the number one Imo citizen between 1999 and 2007, lamented the role of money in Nigeria’s electoral process.
4. Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has assured people of the oil-rich state that he will implement, “without reservations”, the recent the Supreme Court’s verdict after carefully reviewing its Certified True Copy (CTC).
5. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, yesterday, asked the federal government to jettison any planned hike in electricity tariff under any guise, threatening to lead mass resistance against such move. It also threatened to shut down operations of telecommunications companies should they fail to implement the 35 per cent hike in tariff agreed with the government.
6. No fewer than six persons have reportedly been killed in a fresh suspected armed herdsmen attack on Tse Ugema Chul, Mbakesa community, Ugbaam in Ukum Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue. The attack also left several other people with injuries, while several others have been declared missing.
7. The Police Command in Nasarawa State has arrested and detained one Godswill Achili for allegedly impersonating a soldier to rob unsuspecting members of the public. This is contained in a statement signed by SP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, made available to journalists on Sunday in Lafia.
8. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has arrested a 42-year-old Angolan businessman, Mbala Abuba at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, for attempting to traffic 120 wraps of cocaine, which he ingested, to Istanbul,Turkey. The Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Mr Femi Babafemi said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
9. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Kaduna Zonal Directorate, has apprehended 11 suspected internet fraudsters in Chanchangi Local Government Area of Niger State. In a statement released on the agency’s official X handle, titled “EFCC Arrests 11 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Niger,” the commission disclosed that operatives recovered two vehicles and 13 mobile phones of various brands during the operation.
10. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has suspended Alhaji Kabir Sani-Giant, Special Adviser to Gov. Nasir Idris on Power and Politics for bringing a snake to the Government House. A statement signed by the party’s Kebbi State Secretary, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad-Kimba, announced the suspension in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
