Nigerian Government Closes Four Foreign Missions Due To Lack Of Funds
1 min readThe Federal Government of Nigeria, has ordered the closure of four foreign missions abroad due to lack of funds. Geoffrey Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs disclosed on Tuesday that the missions are Sri-lanka, Serbia, Ukraine and Czech Republic.
The minister who may exit President Muhmmadu Buhari’s administration at the end of the month said the closure was because the government could not fund the missions anymore. Before the closure Nigeria had 119 foreign missions.
The closure of the four foreign mission is met with mixed reactions, as some Nigerians think the closure of Serbia, Sri-lanka and Czech Republic was long overdue while others are concerned about the fate of many Nigerians studying in Ukraine.
